The Dale Jr. Download Guest Spotlight: Chris Buescher

By Bobby Markos

Race fans may be one step closer to finally seeing the highly-anticipated “Chris-topher” Buescher t-shirts come to life as the two-time NASCAR Cup winner joins Dale Earnhardt Jr. and co-host Mike Davis in the Bojangles Studio for this week’s episode of The Dale Jr. Download. The 29-year-old made headlines last week when he scored a major victory in the Bristol night race, ending a winless drought that dated back to his first Cup victory in the rain-shortened 2016 Pennsylvania 400 event at Pocono. Cup racing devotees are probably familiar with the “Chris vs. Christopher” debacle, which Buescher has embraced, even going as far as to change his Twitter profile name and his driver name decal on the No. 17 Roush Fenway Keselowski Ford.

Buescher began making Cup series starts for Front Row Motorsports back in 2015, after finding much success in the ARCA and Xfinity divisions. His first win at Pocono came during his Rookie of the Year campaign, making him the first driver since Joey Logano in 2009 to do so. After racing “on loan” for JTG Daugherty for three seasons, Buescher was named as Ricky Stenhouse’s successor in the RFK Racing No. 17 for the 2020 season. Since then the Texas-born racer’s progress has been noticeable, with an impressive 19th-place points finish for 2021. He has been in contention for wins several times in 2022 before finally sealing the deal in the Bristol night race.

Download fans should tune in to hear more about one of NASCAR’s up-and-coming stars and his journey to stock car racing’s pinnacle division.
